Aynsley Corbett, Psy.D.
Dr. Aynsley Corbett is a clinical psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of pediatric behavioral and emotional disorders. She focuses on working with children, adolescents, and their families to identify and treat behavior and mood disorders, developmental disabilities, and facilitate adjustment to chronic illness. Specifically, Dr. Corbett is experienced in the assessment and treatment of depression and anxiety, ADHD, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, medical conditions such as cancer and diabetes, and child-parent relationship issues. She utilizes both behavior and cognitive-behavioral therapy and incorporates additional methods based on the individual needs of the patient. Depending on the age of the child, art and play may be used to engage the child in treatment. Dr. Corbett believes that empathy, encouragement, and support are essential to supporting the growth and development of both the child and family. Prior to joining Atlanta Psych Consultants, Dr. Corbett worked in private practice with a focus on child behavior and mood disorders, the diagnosis and treatment of school problems, and the adjustment and support to families of children with chronic illnesses. In addition to her private practice, she was employed as a clinical psychologist at the Marcus Autism Center in the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program and the Early Intervention Program where she provided treatment for children with feeding difficulties and supervised the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders. She has worked in diverse medical and outpatient settings and has experience conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. Dr. Corbett received her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Studies from Vanderbilt University and her doctoral degree from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Atlanta with a focus on child and family psychology. During her doctorate program, she trained at the Grady Pediatric Infectious Disease Program, Emory Autism Resource Center, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. She completed her clinical internship at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit and a two year clinical and research fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Her research has focused on the treatment and medication adherence of children, adolescents, and families affected by HIV. She is a licensed psychologist in the State of Georgia and a member of the American Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Association. | |||||
